This article tells the reader about what exactly niche blogging is and who all are benefiting out of it. How people who do not have regular office jobs, not due to incompetence, but due to circumstances and by personal choice, generate a source of income through it. Apart from that it also briefly tells about the Key players in this business.
Before understanding niche blogging one should know what blogging is- for a layman Blogs are online journals or diaries which are great for sharing information and ideas. On a more technical front blog is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or videos.Blogging implies to write, edit and upload one's matter which includes text, video, audio, graphics and so on, to such websites, thereby establishing online social community with an objective of sharing information worldwide , to people whom one doesn't know even remotely.
Niche blogging takes blogging to the next level, essentially speaking 'niche' is a target market that has good profit potential and isn't saturated by competitors. In blogging, the topic on which user writes is a generalized topic, whereas niche blogging caters to a lot more specialized topics. This enables people to write on topics of their domain/expertise and have an intrinsic discussion and information sharing on that which also keep them distinctly unique.
Now you must be thinking that just by writing niche blogs how can one generate income and where does the money come from? It's not because of the fact that you are writing a blog that you get paid for; you actually get paid for the advertisements that are displayed on your Blog. This I will discuss in detail later during my article.
As of now niche-blogging has become a full fledged Business on internet, it has come as an opportunity for a lot of people who find it difficult to fit into regular jobs due to circumstances.
As Demosthenes puts it rightly "Small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises"
In recent times people like At home Mums, retired professionals and a lot more, have recognized this avenue and are entering into it for a regular source of income. Now that doesn't restrict niche blogging to freelancers, even people with regular jobs take time out and blog for an extra source of income.
If we identify the key players in this business they fall under 3 basic categories: 1. Niche
Bloggers -People writing the niche blogs 2. Organizations maintaining the blogging websites 3. Companies whose products and services are advertised on these sites. 4. Third party who provide application to these Blogging site owners for managing the text, image and video advertisements on their websites.
How does one earn by Blogging?
Whenever we talk about business, it is essential that all parties involved in the business are gaining something out of this mutual coalition.
I would now briefly present the profitability for each player involved:
* A Niche Blogger: The prime player is the person who writes the content/Blog. The Blogger gets paid every time a visitor to his website/Blog clicks an Advertisement on his blog.
* Organizations/Blogging sites like Wordpress, DuoBlogger and many more serve as a publishing platform that allows bloggers to post their blogs or even mini-sites of their niche content. This service is free for the first 3000MB of space but one needs a space upgrade if they have to add video, music or image files to their content, this space upgrade comes with a cost like 5 GB space upgrade costs $20 per year, 15 GB upgrade costs $ 50 per year and 25 GB upgrade costs $90 per year. This way these sites get paid from the Bloggers, apart from this the companies who advertise their products on these sites also pay them on the basis of revenue generated through them (When a visitor to these
Blogging sites click on the advertisement and buys their product/service).
* The Companies that advertise their products/services on such Blogs .The placement of these Advertisements are Blog content specific i.e. a company which markets Health care product would like their advertisement to be displayed on a blog which is written on the same domain, this ensures that the advertisement is viewed by people who are seeking information in the same area and so might get interested in buying their product/service this is how the niche market is targeted and the same gives the name 'Niche Blogging' to this kind of Blogging.
* Third party which provide application to these Blogging site owners for managing the text, image and video advertisements on their websites. One such application called Adsense is provided by Google. These advertisements are administered by Google and generate revenue on a per-click basis i.e. each time an advertisement gets clicked on the website the company has to pay to the Blogging site owner and the Blogger under whose blog the advertisement is displayed.
What to keep in mind while writing a Niche Blog:
It is important to realize that while Blogging you are a marketer your product is the Blog that you are writing and your customer are the visitors to your Blogs. That means at the end you have to satisfy your customers .Keeping this in mind I would suggest the following as key points to remember while writing a Blog:
* Select the topic for your blog carefully it should be one that is of interest to you, after that narrow down the topic to the extent you can. The more focused you are in your approach the more distinct you would be from your competitors and that would create an audience for your Blog as there wouldn't be much people writing on the same topic.
* It is important to remember that there are some priority domains like Healthcare, Cars, Business and Travel. Writing Blogs on these domains would pay you more but then again a more important fact is that you should write a blog on a topic that interests you and you have good knowledge
* While writing the Blog on should keep in mind that the better researched and informative your Blog is, the more audience it would attract and the more audience visit your Blog , the advertisers would like to target your Blog for their advertisement and they would have to bid to win your Blog space, which in turn makes your blog more profitable(they'll have to pay more to get a space on your Blog)
* You should upgrade your Blogs regularly as that only would keep your visitors glued to your Blog else they would loose their interest in due course of time.
Keeping all this in mind would surely help. I hope this article has given you an insight to Niche Blogging. You can start writing your own Blogs from now onwards and enjoy the journey.
